That's a subset font generated by Scribus.

Ah, two font files with the same font name may indeed be a problem for
Scribus.
Eg. look up a glyph during layout from one file and then tell PDF to use the
glyph from the other file.

Do you have both Syntax font files on your computer? Can you file a bug for
testing?
