I
 think there is, and the best way, yet the most work, would involve more
 or less starting all over. The reason is that this original tutorial 
dates from the 1.2 versions, where Scribus's capabilities were very much
 less than now, and we might not even do things the same way this 
tutorial suggests.

This having been said, there are a large 
number of things illustrated in this relatively short tutorial. Here is

As I am sure that you know, Greg, I helped to prepare a newer tutorial in 2008. There were some licensing issues, as we wanted our version to be under the Creative Commons license model. Things get complicated!! Here is the tutorial information link:

In any case, it is for a later version than the original and might provide a better starting point.

I would be willing to assist in efforts to revise/update/rewrite a more up-to-date tutorial, even if it is only to help with proof-reading.
