I believe Scribus will prove to be a GREAT DTP application for you PROVIDED
you understand that any DTP application will likely require more effort to
produce your project than a word processor, for instance. Depending on what
your project is, a DTP application may be the ONLY feasible way to produce
it. However, there are many projects that might be more easily produced
with a word processor even if using graphics. However, almost all DTP
applications allow much better control over the project outcome than a word
processor can. But, that control comes with a price. It has been
suggested, I believe, that there is a learning curve to consider. Also,
Scribus, like most better DTP applications, does not make assumptions for
the layout of your project. You must make your own decisions and implement
them, which translates into a bit more effort to have better control over
the final result. As long as you are prepared for all this, I think you'll
come to enjoy the flexibility and power of Scribus.

As a magazine publisher, I find it a great product, quite capable, sometimes
frustrating, but able to handle my requirements very nicely. Your mileage
may differ.
