I don't know if it can help, but you can chose, when you export your 
pdf, the order of the pages.

Eg for no-reordering, you choose 1-8, and for making the booklet, you 
chose 1,8,2,7,3,6,4,5.
And then try to print 2 A5 on one A4 page (with Acroread? Or using a tool?)
