Actually I think the United Linux thing is on the back burner right now,
since all of the SCO junk started. SuSE is in fact following the
correct file hierarchy according to the LSB (Linux Standards Base).
Many of the others have not fell in line yet, although they are saying
they will. Mandrake may be one of the worse offenders about putting
things in nonstandard spots. The LSB came around about the time United
Linux did to make the hierarchy an easy transition no matter what distro
you were using.
