I recently stumbled onto Xprint (http://xprint.mozdev.org), a
client/server printing solution for X which supports all kinds of
fonts, charsets etc. using an X server for "displaying" the pages on
the printer. To me, this looks like an intelligent idea. Maybe scribus
could use Xprint somehow?
The major drawback seems to be that Xprint doesn't support the common
PPD printer definitions, it's using an own approach for that. But
Sun and HP have already supplied printer definitions.
