It seems that one of the design goals of QML is to allow non-programmers to
have significant input on the usability (including visual appeal) of a
product.  Basically, someone who understands how they want to use the tool
can draw something up on paper (and not that much harder to draw it in
QML), and developers can tie in all the code on the back-end (or some in
Javascript in QML if they want).

I don't know where the UI development is at or where it is going, but if
there is a chance to get more people contributing by using QML, I think
that is worth considering.

There is a desktop design guide on the Qt Learning page, which I recommend
Qt developers have a look at.  I'm going through the mobile device one
myself, and it is a very different way of developing, but well worth at
least understanding the possibilities.
