Dear Greg,
Sorry, I was never aware that the Scribus page on Sourceforge is
considered the main Scribus website; I always went to scribus.net and
often to the "old wiki". This compiling is mostly new to me, each time
it goes differently - and I only do it, because there is no classic
package for Leap 15 available.
I went to the URL you sent me (on sourceforge) and looked at folder
1.5.4. I found 8 items and no documentation and no descriptions, I tried
parent folders too.
I see two Windows flavours and one AppImage; those I know and they are
not what I has asked about.
Then I duckducked .dmg and learnt those files are for OS X users.
Next I duckducked .asc and got too much information, but nothing about
svn and checking out anything.
So by this route I ended up with two archives .7z and .tar.xz (maybe
containing the same content).
I had asked about how I can check out a "historic" version from the svn
trunk so that I can compile something which will be (or behave like)
Scribus 1.5.4 for OpenSuse Leap 15.0 64bit.
You sent me to a page and I found stuff but no answer to my question. I
am right now downloading the .7z archive, and might find checked-out and
ready-packed source code for Scribus 1.5.4, or I might find something
else. Since internet is slow in my part of the world (download manager
is estimating 45 minutes left), it feels like the lottery, downloading
to find out what is inside.
If I find source code inside, I will hope it is structured just as a svn
checkout so that I can follow the online instructions on the wiki about
compiling. I will let you know what happened.
Getting late and our oldest cat is giving birth tonight, so will update
later this week when I am back at this desk.
