[scribus] Where is the code for the icons.

There's no need to use pdf in this case. You can import svg files 
directly to scribus and resize them. It's a group of objects. You can 
even change the properties of these objects in scribus if you need (e.g. 
line width, color etc). I do this all the time, it works very well. I've 
made a few books with scribus, and actually in my workflow I do all my 
illustrations in inkscape and import them as svg to scribus.
