If you use 1.5.0, you can import PDF pages as vector files. Once you 
select a page, let's say 1, which has 1 & 2 as you say, then Item > 
Ungroup, after which you can edit the page, and (hopefully) be able to 
remove the page 2 part, leaving page 1. Also note that you don't have to 
use pdftk to split the PDF, since you can select a particular page from 
Scribus.

One thing to mention is that once you Ungroup, deselecting the group 
let's you select individual parts.

The tricky part, which will either allow you to get what you want or 
not, is that you see that the page had multiple objects which may or may 
not be confined to a single side.
