> To say it is "a bit spread out among several menu items" is a nice way of saying that it currently is more a reflection of the inner workings of Scribus ;) This is one of the issues that need to be sorted out on the way to 1.6.0, i.e., moost of it needs to become part of the Style Editor. Personally, I wouldn't waste too much time on documenting this feature yet. It won't stay that way, if sanity prevails.

One of the functions of some preliminary documentation is to display a
process that needs some help with usability. Footnotes are at least
usable at this point, so we might as well have some directions for those
who want to experiment.

As I got into this, something which also occurred to me was the feature
of footnotes frames having the ability to expand to fit content. If it
can be done for them, why can't it be done for regular text frames?
