OK, but if for example I wanted to pull in an SVG of the innards of a 
petrol engine, I wouldn't be filled with confidence !

Converting the text to paths got it to work for me, but presumably in 
the fullness of time, this should be unnecessary ?

I assume the aim in the end, is that Scribus should be able to
import some particular defined version / specification of SVG,
including text ?
