[scribus] Image effects

When using the dialog at Extras -> Manage Images there is a tab on the
right side of the window named Image Effects.  When selected, one of the
options is Grayscale.  Does that effect relate to changing the colorspace
from RGB to Grayscale (CMYK) in the output image?  If not, what is its
function?
