"Mechanism" might not have been the best choice of word. I'm not 
suggesting the use of divining rods or anything, but specifically, I 
understood that aspell wasn't a contender for windows these days, even 
though there had been a port in the past ?

Good, but at the moment we use aspell on the platforms where it is 
supported, rather than enchant ?  Or have I misunderstood ?
