Ted,
Most Scribus users, somewhat mistakenly, call a print shop a printer.  Since
Scribus is not intended to print to a local printing device but rather to
create a file for submission to a print shop, when we say printer, we
usually mean print shop.  Confusing to many who use DTP software, but when
you realize the majority of users probably use Scribus for typesetting and
layout of commercial projects, then you begin to understand the misnomer.
