Some reasons for not getting rid of your just yet would be that 
sometimes there can be a subtle difference in some aspect of layout when 
you load into 1.3.8. Also, you might want to share a file with someone 
who is using 1.3.3.x. So freely load files into 1.3.8, but save 
with a slightly different filename, so you still have the old version's

Actually, it's 1.3.9 that will be coming out real soon now. 1.4 _maybe_ 
next year some time.
