I see two possible solutions for this:
a) Use TeX. A single return is ignored, any sequence of returns is treated
as a single paragraph break. As an additional goodie TeX treats multiple
spaces as a single space.
b) Type with your nose. You'll learn quickly to avoid unnecessary
keystrokes.
