I made a text frame and pasted the advertiser's text into the text editor and updated the frame. It didn't fit. So I reduced the size of all the text. It still lacks a line of fitting. The type comes in several chunks, with a full line space between them. I would like to squeeze each of those places a little. The ad is a full page high, so there are enough spaces that squeezing a little would give me that extra line.

Sure.

And various ways at that. Sounds like you might try linespacing first,
but you can also try word tracking/kerning. Slightly shrinking the
height of glyphs might help appearance or allow a smaller linespacing.
