I'm hoping we can soon augment what we have in the manual site to "fix" 
this problem. As you say, what we have now is a mix of old and new and 
confusing.
Once we have the info there up to date, we can then try to fix the wiki.
In the longer run, the DMG approach is being worked on and promises to 
be a good answer for many.
