I hope you're using 1.3.3.x, so that this advice will apply.

For text frames:
If you go to the Shape tab of Properties, you can set the distances of 
the text from the various edges of your frame, so you don't need to make 
another one.

For wrap around an image:
Select your image frame. Again go to Shape tab, check Text Flows around 
Frame, check also Use Contour Line. Then click Edit Shape button, check 
Edit Contour Line. There are buttons to enlarge the Contour line either 
by percentage or by a number of units.

If you're dealing with a group of frames, your method is as good as any.
