[scribus] Still trying to get 1.3.3.12

Which I've just about give up on getting! The Debian page
(http://packages.qa.debian.org/s/scribus.html) reports 1.3.3.12 in
"testing" (lenny), but I've added that repository (url =
http://debian.scribus.net/debian, distribution = testing, section(s) =
main non-free contrib) in Synaptic and it doesn't show up. I'm using
MEPIS 7, but that shouldn't matter -- it's Debian based and I can see
other Debian repositories, even installed 1.3.3.6 from one and it works
just fine. So what's wrong here? Am I doing something wrong when adding
the repository? Yes, I did hit the "reload" button to d/l the newer files.

At the bottom of the page listed above there is a set of three files to
download. I found this on http://filext.com/file-extension/dsc:

"Debian source packages consist of two or three files. First the *.DSC
file which contains some information information about the package and
checksums for the remaining file(s). Second a *.TAR.GZ holding the
upstream sources. And third, if any changes need to be made to the
sources, they are distributed as *.DIFF.GZ. To simplify the unpacking
process a single command, "dpkg-source -x *.dsc", is provided by Debian
to unpack these files."

So the .dsc file is a description with checksum values, the .tar.gz the
compressed package, and .diff.gz changes that need to be made. I'm
assuming using ""dpkg-source -x *.dsc" (where "*" is replaced by the
name of the .dsc file if I only want that file unpacked) will unpack the
.dsc file, but what about the others, and how do I go about installing
once the packages are uncompressed?

While I'm familiar with compressed files on other systems, I'd
appreciate an easy step-by-step procedure if anyone is willing to do so
(or point me to a page that has the info). Should help others here
who've had the same problem too... that and I have to admit to being
rusty with anything other than Windows over the last few years.
