Hi Bernard,
I agree with almost everything what you've written but:

-- with this understandable attitude of yours, why on earth do you want
to upgrade to _Edgy_ which, as indicated by its name, is focussed on
introducing and testing new stuff (edginess), not on stability?

I like *buntu too, but please be aware of these issues (which should be
addressed soon by Ubuntu makers):
