[Scribus] use fonts from "Xara" in Scribus ?

Very generally, yes. Settings->Fonts... ->Additional Paths.
You are, perhaps, better off installing the font in the usual way using
your distribution's tools (defoma, kfontinstaller, rpm, etc.) and it
will just show up the next time you launch Scribus.

Speaking of loading fonts... Debian is a real pain about them (just
switched to Debian after having broken SuSE one time too many.) Does
anyone have any pointers? I've pretty much decided that defoma is
virtually useless and apt doesn't register .deb fontpacks with
fontconfig. Grr...
