[Scribus] page numbers

Hi, I am using 1.2.2.1 version of Scribus with Suse 9.3 SE. Of course the idea to delete the pictures from my hard drive and to have them has never crossed my mind. They are all in the same directory with my .sla file.

Another question: How can I insert page numbers? MS Word has a command 'insert page numbers'. OO offers a complicated trick with headers/footers. Scribus doesn't seem to contain anything similar, unless you insert text frames and manually type in the numbers.

Got a hint as to what version you are using and on what platform?

Craig

Scribus doesn't actually save graphics as part of the .sla file. It
merely saves a kind of "pointer" to the graphic.

Therefore, if you put a graphic into your document, save it, and then
subsequently move the original graphic elsewhere or delete it (remove the
clip art CD from your drive, delete the picture from your downloads
directory, what-have-you) the picture disappears.

The solution is to insure that your graphics are actually resident on
your hard drive when you use them.

Are there any changes between different 1.2.4cvs versions? If not, I can
upload an updated ts file in the next few days.

Cheers,

Hi,

You missed installing openssl-devel. Noted in the README and BUILDING
files.

Suse builds in ssl (Secure Sockets Layer) into their CUPS setup and
thus when compiling CUPS support for it, you need the openssl
headers.

Unfortunately, we cannot easily run a configure test, as not all
distros do this.

Complete list of needed/recommended packages:

 qt3-devel (required)
 libart_lgpl-devel (required)
 freetype2-devel (required)
 fontconfig-devel
 liblcms-devel
 libtiff-devel
 libxml2-devel
 cups-devel
openssl-devel (required if CUPS support is needed)
 libpng-devel
 libjpeg-devel
 update-desktop-files
 python-devel
 tk
 python-imaging

Hi,

Yes, only the latest CVS snapshot will have the complete string
changes. One minor one went in 30 minutes before I re-spun the
tarball.

Cheers,

Peter

Thats it.

An annoying problem, which PDF solves, by the way...
once it's in a PDF, the picture never gets lost like this.

On my system, Scribus is configured to save everything
to the root directory... if you specify some other directory,
and keep all your files... your sla files /and/ the picture files...
in this directory, then you can edit the file again, complete
with picture

Hi all,
I promised to report further progress on my pdf printing problem of last
week (See Vol 33 No 39)
Still not sure what caused the problem. But it is fixed by reinstalling
the whole shebang. that was required after I installed XP and wiped out
all my personal files plus the MBR.

The Building file in the 1.3.2cvs release was most helpful. Particularly
the notes about AMD 64 system needs. One thing did hang me up:
Libtff--devel.
If it's on the list I missed it. But fortunately the error message
explained for the benighted.

Many thanks for all your help and particular kudos to the slaves who
write the error msgs and building files!
