[Scribus] compiling ghostscript 8.x

I can remember having similar problems when building gs here. All issues 
disappeard after i did (what i think) is the old way of doing things 
(not with configure). Edit the platform specific makefile yourself and 
use that one to build. See gs docs under "How to prepare the makefiles".
