[Scribus] 1.1.4 crashes on suse linux

That depends on your distro.

check your font paths that are listed in your XF86Config file
eg /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/*

and any other directories that your fontconfig might include
plus ~/.fonts might exist too
