[Scribus] Font detection in 1.1.1

I copied my fonts to the appropriate directory under
/usr/lib/X11/fonts/
For example, I copied all of my TrueType fonts to
/usr/lib/X11/fonts/TrueType

Worked for me (in Debian, also)...
