Well, I agree that with narrow columns and less-than-aggressive hyphenation the final appearance of the text might not be the best, but, I would expect a lot of space between the words (along with a bit of glyph stretching), if that's what's needed to justify. In some places in my documents I do see lines with only three or even two words on them and a ton of space in between the words. That's fine. My understanding is that I can allow more hyphenation if I want to reduce that.<br>

I think there is a Scribus bug in some cases, though. I altered my original test so that nothing but two-letter words are on the last line at the bottom of the column in question and on the first line of the next column. Still the last line of the column is not justified. Here's the new test case and the new screen shot. The bottom of the second column on the left page is the problem:<br>
