I was referring only to Snap to Items feature. If there are too many objects that are snap candidates, snapping to items becomes quite frustrating experience. You just can't reliably say to which object you've just got "snapped". Therefore my suggestion on implementing the ability of skipping individual objects within a group, and treat only a group's bounding box as snap target. Described way would be my proposition that should apply only for:
- object creation
- object transformation (resize, scale and skew)
- moving object around

A problem that makes Snap to Items almost useless for me is that you can't decide which point you want as a reference. Candidates are bbox top, middle, bottom, left, again middle and right. But you can't decide which one on purpose. Most software snaps FROM nearest point under mouse TO whatever gets in the way. In Scribus this is quite erratic relation and seemingly very random.

Now, back to Tacky guides! You've said scribus to Snap to Items... It would be fair from it to follow your command, no matter what!
