[scribus] Header format

Hi Martin
And thanks for replying to my query.

As it happens, I have upgraded to 1.5.7. I think that when I first installed Scribus I installed the most recent version available at the time, and not the most recent stable version, so as that worked fine I had no concerns about using the most current version.

At this stage I am not familiar enough with the environment to make any comments, beyond that I have not found anything that I could not work around. However, there are a couple of items that have not been able to get to work, so I will mention them here in the hope that yourself, or someone can put me on the right path.

The first is tables. I would like to be able to install tables in a couple of places in a doc, but haven't ... hmm, while typing this a possible reason for my problems has come to mind so I will stop at this point.

The second is Tables of Content. I have been having some difficulties in this area. I am using Endnotes and I have noticed comments in the list that using Endnotes can give problems with tables. My question is, is this so? If it is I will simple install the line manually. But if it is not a problem then I guess I am doing something wrong and I will just have to spend a little more time at it.

Once again, thanks very much for your reply, and let me say in finishing, Scribus is a great app.

Chris

Dear Chris,

I will only answer your second question: Yes, you should upgrade to Scribus 1.5.n.

We are using the 1.5 versions for several years for production, not just for testing and we have never had crashes and never lost any work. There are several new features you will like.

Full truth, presently I am still using Scribus 1.5.5 (shame on me) on my main computer. I am doing something with it every week. And it is so dependable and complete that I did not take time to get the 1.5.7. But not because of Scribus but because of my crazy work-load.

In our case we love the new text engine that was introduced around 2016, giving us much better handling of "exotic" glyphs like combining diacritics.

We are using what is available from the public download page, not those bleeding edge nightly builds where you need to dig around to find them or compile for yourself.

hth, greetings,

Martin
