yes, the string could be changed to "development version"...

this is also what i call it. and, indeed, the scribus development
versions tend to be way more stable than many other software's stable
versions!

but the real issue is not with that string, but with the development
model of scribus.

the solution is to have releases way more often, not to to put even
more burden on the releases.

every few years the promise is made to get there.
but no changes are made that could allow to go in that direction.



btw, for many people, there is no other solution than using 1.5.6svn
(or 1.5.5).

currently, if your system is up to date, you cannot use scribus 1.4 on
linux nor on macos.
only windows users can still use scribus 1.4.
and, honestly, i see (hardly) no reasons for using it on windows either.

p.s.: no, there are no bugs that pop up in the stable version...
(except, maybe, for very short periods after a release)
but there are bugs and missing features that can make it unsuitable for
specific usages...
