> Thanks for your answer, Greg. Sorry for my inaccurate description. My problem starts just  at the „look in“ feature which you are recommending. The entries there are what I called „shortcuts“. No matter how often I drag some directory to this section – the next time this window appears, it is set back to original configuration. That means that there is the main directory and the user, nothing else.

I have had the same issue in Ubuntu (several releases) for a good while.
