[scribus] 1.5.3 on Xubuntu 14.04

First, I read here that 1.5.3 cannot be installed on 14.04, but it seems
to run fine directly from the appimage file. I just changed the file
properties to allow it to run as a program, then launched it by
double-clicking on it. And it found all my settings and preferences
too.

One thing that I was keen to see was being able to use automatic
ligatures. I created a text box and typed a few words containing
f-ligatures using a font that has an extensive set of ligatures, as
well as true small caps, super- and subscripts and old-style numerals. I
was pleased to see that the text options work beautifully. I have missed
this since giving up on 'that other big layout application' several
years ago. My heartfelt thanks to the developers for their hard work in
adding this fabulous improvement!

The only problem that I have run into is that I cannot select US
English. It is listed in the drop-down, but when I select it the
selection remains on UK English. Maybe I'm missing a dictionary or
something?
