Maybe we're not talking about the same thing. I can get more blur than I
would ever want.
This is under a separate tab in Properties, not the drop shadow text
effect for text in the Text tab.
Unlike Gimp, you don't have a choice of the mathematical kind of blur.
I'm guessing it may be linear.
This looks like something worth putting something into the online manual
and wiki about. There has been a presumption that the Properties palette
will change in a big way before 1.6 is released, but we have so many
features in 1.5.x that are undocumented.
