[scribus] scribus Digest, Vol 95, Issue 10

Hello Craig

Well, this leads to some principle questions. Why would I even start using Scribus frequently if actual versions are not running anymore on my system within 4 years. I mean that is what Apple and Adobe are doing intentionally and the main reason to get away from them. Now if Opensource software does the same, there really is no reason anymore to use it.

Also you developers think too much technical. Users of your software are designers like me. I am not interested in Building a software or read about why you limit your development on the availability of certain libraries or whatever Qt is (I read QuickTime). If you ever want to be serious in developing a tool that is actually used by designers, you have to make it easy to get and use and make it durable. Otherwise it is no alternative to Adobe or Quark and no help to GNU/Linux because as long as there is no comparable tool available, someone like me is not able to switch over to GNU/Linux. Thats why I am still on Apple, but I refuse to go along with Apple forcing me to always have the most actual OS. 10.6.8 is a perfectly fine OS. There has been no necessary development since, except that artificial forcing anyone to create software that only runs on the newest OS for absolutely no reason.

Well, just my thought here.

Regards
Thom
