And, if possible, don't top post.  Doing so gets the conversation 
backwards, and many people find it confusing.  On the other hand, even 
people who prefer it that way have no difficulty in following the 
conversation if it's not top posted.  (However, if you're replying to 
several different sections of a post, putting your replies after the 
part you're addressing, then continuing with more quotations makes it 
much easier for readers to know which comment belongs with which quote.) 
  Last, please understand that the above isn't a formal part of this 
list's rules, although I do belong to at least one list where it is. 
It's just my personal preference, and I'm fairly sure that I'm not the 
only one who feels this way.
