 For Scribus 1.4.x click on Insert. Barcode is the last item in the
dropdown list. The ISBN barcode is EAN-13 and the companion price
barcode is EAN-5. For the OCRA or OCRB versions of the ISBN you
need to  create and position a text frame of
appropriate size. You need the font on your sysem also.
I generally place a white rectangle of appropriate size on the
bottom layer. Then I add a layer which will contain the three
items mentioned above.

It does not matter what OS you are using.

I find the online barcode generator at:
www.tux.org/~milgram/bookland/
slightly more convenient. But both are perfectly usable.  My
e-book listed below covers this and other issues.
