I just tried it and the svg graphic did appear. But it seems to have 
lost its vector qualities. There was a warning sign in the lower right 
corner. 

When the svg file is imported rather than inserted there is no warning 
flag. 

As for recommending 1.5.0 I do use it because it is the only version I 
have found that supports PDF X/1-a format, a requirement in my work.
But it would be as a last resort in the OPs situation. 

I suggested Scribus 1.3.3.14 as a first choice to solve the other 
person's problem. So we agree on that.
