Now, why didn't I think of that?

I opened the file in Gedit, which found half a dozen instances of the
word "Arial." Unfortunately, I still have no idea where the font occurs
in the document. Gedit found "Arial" in several blocks like this:

 <PAGEOBJECT OwnPage="0" PTYPE="4" XPOS="995.787" YPOS="465.625"

I read through the above looking for some clue as to which page the
font occurs on, but figuring it out is beyond my capability. I note the
"Pagenumber="0" text in the above, but all the blocks said the same
thing, plus, there is no "page 0" in the document.

The only positive clue I have is that the last instance where Gedit
found "Arial" was in a block of text that I actually wrote myself. (I
was explaining to the reader about using Arial in OOo formulas.) And
that instance occurs on page 10. All the rest of the instances were in
blocks like the above, and occurred earlier. So maybe that means that
the text that is set to Arial is somewhere in the first ten pages. Or
maybe not. Or maybe it is in one of the half a dozen master pages.

Well, at least now I know that Scribus is not making it up. The document
does contain some text that is set to Arial Regular. Still trying to
figure out how to find it without opening over a hundred stories one at
a time in Story Editor.
