Wouldn't an even better solution (for Windows-users not used to using
command line tools) be to install one of the free PDF printer
appliances, and just print to a PDF?

As far as I understand most of those (even all?) are more or less GUI
wrappers for ghostscript.

CutePDF, PDF995, Go2PDF, Bullzip PDF Printer, doPDF are some I found
using Google, but I don't know much about differences.
