Hi,

Arabic support is making significant progress. We can already display
Arabic correctly using a shaper. I have verified with two colleagues at
work that it is visually correct.

Right now the issue is not display or editing, but exporting, which is
another bit of work.

So, it is pre-alpha, but definitely progressing.

As for merging, changes from trunk are being merged in regularly by Jean
Ghali, so there will be no problems down the road.
