basically, you're right, but vector graphics can also get huge. as greg
suggested, sometimes it can be better to export the image to png,
instead of importing the vector file.

one of the problems, which an occur with vector graphics is that the
original file may feature some structures which are not directly
supported by scribus and which have to be approximated with complicated
figures (as an example, this may happen for gradients used to show a 3D
profile).
