what are trying to copy? a text? a grid?

it is unlikely that you will be able to copy paste a full grid, but you
should be able to copy paste text snippets under vista (i can't test it
for you since i don't own that program nor any vista licence).

if you want to insert full crosswords grids into scribus, you will have
to find a workflow which uses some sort of file export from you xword
app (svg, pdf, eps).

... or just create a script which draws the grid for you based on some
interactive input or a text file...

sorry for not being able to help more

p.s.: i wonder why the guy behind magnus opus does not make his
application free software... i really don't feel like downloading a
random java application from an unknown place in the internet...
