Words of wisdom. 

Publisher has been abandoned by Microsoft. It will have no more updates. 
And they invented the thing.  Better choices are Scribus, TeX, InDesign or 
even Quark Xpress. These are of course very different products but they are 
products with inherent quality. Microsoft Publisher is one of those 
miserable consumer level products like Front Page.  Pros avoid them.
