That bug report is not the same problem that I am experiencing.

In my case the font DOES have the requested glyphs. Try pasting this
line into a blank text frame:

Linguists need combining diacriticals to type a word like [bɪt͡ʃ].

The IPA characters are 026A [ɪ], 0361 tie bar, 0283 [ʃ].

Now that you have the line in the document, apply bold to the text. You
will find that the IPA characters appear fine in regular, but turn to
white boxes when bold is applied.

There is also the fact that the Insert > Glyph windows does not display
these characters at all if the font is bold version of the font. And
many other glyphs are also missing from the display.

I don't know where the problem comes from, but I know I never had the
problem in Hardy, so it must be something that was changed in Intrepid.
And I just tried the March 26 beta of Jaunty and discovered that the
problem remains.
