These are supprted by the available open source software and should work OK
for monitor profiling. Another discontinued model that can be considered is
the X-Rite DTP94. Many consider this to be a better meter than any of the
currently available color meters. Also keep in mind that all of these devices
have a certain amount of drift away from correct calibration over time and
because of this these devices have a finit life before they need to be
replaced or recalibrated. DTP92 models are also supported but most of these
devices even if they are new old stock will have drifted to the point of
needing recalibration and it is cheaper to a new device. Older devices like
the DTP92 drifted faster than do current devices and it was common practice to
send the device in for recalibration every 2 to 3 years even though X-Rite
recommended that it be done anually. But the hardware is now low cost enough
and drifts slowly enough that it is cheaper to just replace the hardware every
6 or 7 years. Even though you might find new old stock for a discontinued
unit it will have a shorter useful life than a new unit but it still might be
a good deal if you get it cheap enough.
