[scribus] Which linux for scribus in virtual box ?

I'm considering setting up Linux in a virtual box VM on a twin core laptop.

The aim of this would really be to see if we can finally make the
transition to linux and dump XP.

I should be able to allocate 50 to 80 gig of disk space, and the crucial
thing is that I'll be able to run gimp, inkscape and scribus, and
compile scribus.

I know there is no right answer to this, but given the laptop, the VM
and the applications, does any particular distribution seem likely to be
particularly convenient or difficult ?

I have had some quite good experiences of Debian / Kubuntu in the past,
but happy to consider any options.

Cheers, J/.
