I doubt that you will see real improvements without hardware. You cannot 
calibrate for the camera (as you say that the guy does not know and 
there is no attached information).

You could calibrate monitor, try to get a controlled and stable 
environment (using proper sun shading and luminaires) and calibrate the 
printer, that is all what is left to you and would allow to estimate how 
the images would appear on paper and do some "corrections" on screen. 
But this involves hardware - the equipment for you work space to ensure 
a stable lighting, plus measurement devices for screen and print-outs. 
And you would have to go through the calibration every month or two.

So think about how much you can improve, and how much effort you want to 
put into this.
