[scribus] Spell check and word processing in Scribus

Hi all:

Like many, I hesitate putting my toes into this pool. From
my experience in layout/printing I know both of the species
involved ;)
The print shops use generally a task-separated and
specialist workflow and they never touch any text at the
last moment, even when they're in charge of the layout.
Then there are the content providers. Some are working more
ahead, doing books or big brochures; they tend to adhere to
the same principles. On the other hand there are those
working on small volume or quick production, say weekly ad
flyer's. Those guys live, fart and dream inside two
applications; Photoshop and Illustrator. They'd need spell
checking, but they would never use a special DTP-only app,
they use vector illustration software.

That said, I think spell checking should be an option in
Scribus, but it will never substitute human proofreading
(actually rewording and rephrasing in the layout phase often
changes text layout much more than mere spelling
corrections, and must be done by oxygen-generated
brain-equipped bipeds ;) ).

Wouldn't it be nice to be able to spellcheck also inside of
editable EPS/PDF inserts ? A bit unrealistic maybe.

Some code editors like Kate have mechanisms that respect
markup, would that be of any use ?

Sorry to add to this lengthy reoccurring discussion.

Best regards,
