Are you referring to the size of a PDF that's generated by Scribus?

Some other options for creating a PDF from Scribus (depending on your needs) are
installing CUPS-PDF and printing to that, or printing to a .ps (Postscript)
file and using ps2pdf to generate a PDF.  You might also want to take a look at
pdfopt.
